Battle, Distance, and Thinking as a Tool

People often experience the world as if it were a battlefield.
We constantly judge who is right and who is wrong, who is justified and who is not.
Anger rises, unfairness is felt, and it seems necessary to respond, argue, or fight.

The emotion itself is natural.
Anger and agitation are part of being human; they are sensors.

The problem is not the emotion.
The problem appears when emotion immediately takes control of judgment and action.

This is why some people speak of stepping back.
But “step back and observe” is easier said than done.
Without rehearsal, real situations easily end in NGs—failed takes.

The Habit of Examining One’s Own Thinking

Before criticizing someone else,
it is worth asking a few questions of oneself.

What state am I in right now?
Is my emotion pushing the judgment?
Do I have enough information?
Is it possible that I am wrong?

These questions are not merely about moral humility.
They function as safety mechanisms for thinking.

Humans easily fall into patterns such as:

  • confirmation bias

  • majority bias

  • the temptation of false balance

  • the “traitor” narrative within groups

These psychological tendencies become weak points,
and weak points are always attractive targets for those who wish to manipulate.

That is why questions should not circulate only among those who agree with us.
Questions should go to the actual subject.

Closed conversations distort reality.
Open questions reveal structure.

The Temptation of Absolute Language

The world is full of extreme and definitive statements.

“This is absolutely true.”
“Everyone knows this.”
“This is the only answer.”

These statements are powerful.
They are simple, memorable, and persuasive.

That is why such language is often the language of
marketing and propaganda.

Reality is rarely that simple.

Patterns may exist,
but they do not apply to every case.

Insight therefore often appears in statistical language:

  • In many cases…

  • There is a tendency…

  • It often happens…

  • But not always.

This is not weakness.
It is simply acknowledging the complexity of reality.

Knowledge Is Not the Answer, but a Tool

Any theory,
any dataset,
any expert opinion,
any AI-generated answer—

The moment we treat it as the answer, thinking stops.

But if we treat it as a tool, thinking continues.

Tools are:

  • used according to the situation

  • compared with other tools

  • discarded when necessary

A map is not the road.
A map is a reference for finding the road.

Ideas are the same.

Why Experienced People Appear Slow

People with experience often appear slow.

But this is not slowness.
It is deliberate delay.

With experience, thinking begins to include multiple layers:

Situation
→ Pattern recognition
→ Comparison with past cases
→ Simulation of possible outcomes
→ Timing judgment
→ Action

From the outside, it may look like hesitation.
In reality, they are often seeing the board.

Reacting to everything scatters energy.
Experience teaches people not to fight every battle.

Instead, they choose their battles.

Battle and Strategy

Life offers two kinds of enjoyment.

One is the enjoyment of battle:

  • immediate tension

  • quick decisions

  • the thrill of victory and defeat

The other is the enjoyment of strategy:

  • observing structures

  • designing time

  • reading long-term flows

These are not different games.

They are simply the same game played on different time scales.

The Risk of the Live Moment

Live situations are risky.

There is no time to correct mistakes.
Emotions intensify.
Small errors can become amplified.

Those who experience these risks repeatedly begin to
design time deliberately.

When to speak.
When to move.
When to wait.

This is not passivity.
It is timing as strategy.

Nihilism and Freedom

Wise people often say:

We come into the world empty-handed,
and we leave empty-handed.

The same fact can lead to two interpretations.

If everything disappears → nihilism.
If nothing can truly be possessed → freedom.

The difference between nihilism and freedom
lies not in reality,
but in attitude.

What Ultimately Remains

All of this thinking converges on a simple point.

We cannot control the world completely.
We cannot control other people’s thoughts.

But we can influence:

  • our attitude

  • our thinking

  • our reactions

  • our use of time

In the end, these ways of thinking are not lofty philosophy.
They serve a very practical purpose.

They help us become safer and more at ease.

And perhaps that is the most realistic strategy
for enjoying life over the long run.
